Is There a Teen Social Media Craze Known As the 48-Hour Challenge?

... #ad▼

A new ridiculous social media challenge, known as the 48-Hour Challenge, is being reported by several media sources. Supposedly the social media challenge encourages children to disappear for 48 hours. Once the 48 hours are over, the child goes back home an re-appears.

There are few if any solid confirmations that teens are actually participating in this challenge. A 72-Hour Challenge surfaced around 2015, and was reported by media, but no proof ever linked a missing teen to an actual challenge.

In late January 2019, a female teen was found safe after she was missing while she hid under her bed surrounded by shoes in Charlotte, North Carolina. When she was found, her mother denied the girl was participating in the 48-Hour Challenge.
