DuPage County prosecutors are working on the investigation of a fatal crash involving a North Central College van and a green Subaru, driven by a 71-year-old Naperville who died after the crash located near Naperville Central High School, just south of downtown Naperville.
Naperville police responded at 10:38 a.m. February 3, 2019 to West Street and Aurora Avenue for a report of a crash with injuries. The crash involved a red 2016 Chevrolet van registered to North Central College and a green 2004 Subaru sedan.
The Subaru was driven by Ellen Wenzel, age 71. Wenzel was conscious and alert at the scene, but was treated by Naperville firefighter/paramedics and transported by rescue ambulance to a Edward Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Princess Adams was not injured.
Princess Adams, 20, of Country Club Hills, was the driver of the van, traveling westbound on Aurora Avenue at West Street. Police say Adams failed to stop for the red light, striking the driver’s side of the Subaru as the Subaru was driven southbound through the intersection.
Adams initially received a $120 ticket at the scene for disobeying a traffic control signal, police said. Her court date is scheduled for March 20, 2019. The Speed Limit on Aurora Avenue is 40 MPH.
