Freezing drizzle, with spotty light freezing rain showers has resulted in slick conditions on roadways, sidewalks and driveways. There has been ice on paved surfaces since this morning, which has turned to a more sleety, slushy covering. Arlington Heights is expected to get an accumulation of about 0.5 inch of wet snow, ice, and slush with continued hazardous icy roads and walkways.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows mostly freezing rain over much northern Illinois.
Periods of freezing rain/drizzle will persist thru much of afternoon, eventually change to snow NW areas. Hazardous travel conditions will continue due to icy roads, even for areas I-80 & south that rise above freezing due to cold pavement temps. #ilwx #inwx @IDOT_Illinois @INDOT pic.twitter.com/YWFnTOVdWS
