Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:50 PM Wednesday January 23, 2019 to a report of a CTA bus crash at 912 West Chicago Avenue Chicago, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a CTA bus crashed with a car at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Peoria Street. CFD Truck 19’s crew requested an EMS Plan 1 by 1:52 pm. Battalion Chief 3 requested an EMS Plan 2 by 1:56 pm. Deputy District Chief 2-2-1 reported a total of 15 patients: 2 patients Code Red from the passenger vehicle, 10 patients Code Yellow from the bus, and 3 refusals. The EMS Plan 1 secured at 2:25 PM.
The two patient categorized Code Red were transported to Level I Trauma Center Northwestern Memorial Hospital onboard CFD Ambulance 74 and Ambulance 45.
CFD Media reported 15 people transported to area hospitals.
The passenger car — a black Mercedes sedan — received heavy front-end damage in the collision, the the bus veered into a utility or lamp pole with the front end of the bus.
The crash was also reported on Waze. The westbound lanes of Chicago Avenue were the most affected by the crash.
