Lake County Sheriff’s office responded on Friday January 18, 2019 to a report of a sexual offense regarding a teenage victim.
An investigation was immediately launched by Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives. Detectives discovered the possible suspect in the case was a 27-year-old Marine Corps Recruiter. The detailed investigation revealed the victim became acquainted with Marine Corps Recruiter Alexander N. Louis, age 27, of the block of 1800 block of Georgia Avenue, North Chicago, as she was working to enlist in the Marine Corps.
Alexander Louis has been assigned to the Marine Corps Recruiting Center in Waukegan (934 North Green Bay Road) since 2016. On several occasions Louis drove to the victim’s Lake Villa Township residence when her parents were not home. During one of those occasions he engaged in an act of sexual penetration with the juvenile.
As Louis held a position of trust, authority, and supervision over the juvenile, he was subsequently arrested on Tuesday January 22, 2019. Louis was charged with Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 1 Felony). He remains held at the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing this afternoon.
The United States Marine Corps has been fully cooperative during this investigation and Sheriff’s Detective have been in communication with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).
Sheriff Idleburg reminds the community all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
