Gurnee police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:38 p.m. Friday January 4, 2018 to a report of a man shot at the Comfort Inn, 6080 Gurnee Mills Circle East.
Police discovered that a 42-year-old man was shot and wounded in the chest Friday night while in the parking lot of the hotel near Gurnee Mills, according to the Gurnee Police Department.
“Upon arrival, officers found a 42 year old male victim with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was conscious and alert. Officers began first aid on the victim while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. The victim was then transported to the hospital by ambulance.”

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital by Gurnee Fire Department firefighter/paramedics.
A statement with the details was released by Gurnee Police Department late Friday night. Gurnee Police Chief Brian Smith said that the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident, and no known threat exists to the public.
Gurnee police report that the investigation was ongoing and that police are asking that anyone with information about the shooting contact the Gurnee Police Department at 847-599-7000.
The hotel is located at the southeast area of the Gurnee Mills shopping complex about a block north of Grand Avenue near another hotel and several restaurants. The crime scene is also located a little over a mile northwest of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.
