Five Email Marketing Tips and Tricks to Get a Look from Your Recipients

... #ad▼

There are many ways to market your company or organization, from email marketing to social media. Use these email marketing tips and tricks to improve your email campaigns.

Email marketing gives your business the opportunity to reach your customers outside of social media. When it comes to email marketing, you need to try different ideas and campaigns to figure out what works best for your business. The following email marketing tips and tricks will completely improve your email marketing game. Remember, a lot of people don’t like Facebook and don’t use Facebook. They still count on e-mail for communications, and may look forward to emails from trusted sources (e.g, Best Buy, your favorite real estate agent, a trusted health advisor, etc).

5 Email Marketing Tips and Tricks

1. Know Your Audience
It’s important to think about who you’re sending your emails to. Whether you’re an FBI agent or a chemistry professor, your emails need to be sent in a friendly, conversational tone. People like being spoken to in a warm tone, so make sure your writing does that. You want to make sure to personalize each email—use your customers’ name in the subject line and in the body of the email.

2. Send Consistent Emails
Your emails should be sent consistently. You don’t want to overload your customers with emails one day, and then not send any for two weeks. Figure out how many you want to send a day—one, two, or three, maybe four per client—and stick to that. You’ll also want to decide what you want each email to contain, and then keep that consistent day-to-day. Make your emails valuable, and when you have a new customer, try to email them within 24 hours.

3. Keep Emails Short
Your consumers want scannable content, not blocks of paragraphs. One of the best ways to do this is by keeping your emails between 50 to 125 words (SOURCE: Hubspot.com). This forces you to be concise with what is really important about your email. Be sure to use a lot of white space. If you need more than 125 words, make sure to use subheadings and bullet points. This will keep customers focused and attentive on your email.

4. Subject Line is Key
To put it simply, if your subject line doesn’t catch the eye, your email won’t be opened. Your subject line is similar to the first line of your email— it’s very important. If not done well, and if not specific to your customer, you risk an unopened or unread email. Try using an email subject line tester like this one (from CoSchedule), which will tell you how best to optimize your subject line. You’ll also want to make sure that you’re sending emails from a real person. If someone sees an email from a real person, they’ll be more likely to open it.

5. A/B Split Test Your Emails
A/B split testing is simply splitting your email audience into multiple groups to find out which version of your email gets the best conversion results. Monitoring email performance is something everyone should do to find out what works and what doesn’t. Once you do this a few times, you’ll end up perfecting your email marketing campaign.
