Elmhurst police responded about 4:20 PM Saturday January 19, 2019 to a carjacking at Butterfield Road and York Street Elmhurst, IL. Police received a report that an armed male offender committed aggravated vehicular hijacking.
Taken was a white 2017 Cadillac 2-door. There are two gas stations, a grocery store, and a bank at the intersection.
The offender was described as a male/black wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt and armed with a silver handgun.
The vehicle was recovered on Lexington Street near Ada Street in the Little Italy neighborhood of Chicago by 5:05 p.m. However, the suspect was still at large.
The Little Italy neighborhood on the Near West Side of Chicago is sometimes combined in the University Village neighborhood. The Little Italy neighborhood is just south of the Eisenhower Expressway and just west of the Dan Ryan Expressway.
The offender was last seen westbound on Butterfield Road toward Route 83. There is quick access to Chicago via the Route 83/Interstate 88 interchange.
