The official Twitter account for Fox News isn’t broken. The major cable news network has decided to protest the popular social media company by refraining from posting tweets on the account. Fox News (@foxnews) has not tweeted since Thursday November 8, 2018, reportedly in protest of Twitter’s lack of responsiveness when a mob of demonstrators attacked their host Tucker Carlson’s home while he was on the air at Fox News, hosting his program Tucker Carlson Tonight.
A left-wing group, Smash Racism DC, associated with antifa converged on the Washington, D.C., home of Carlson last Wednesday night while chanting “Racist scumbag, leave town!”, pounding on his front door (damaging the door), and warning on social media that Carlson and his family “were not safe.”
“BREAKING. Activists ring doorbell, hold protest at the Washington D.C. area home of @TuckerCarlson, racist, sexist, bigoted FOX News personality. So far no one has opened the door,” read a since-removed tweet by Smash Racism DC, which associates itself with antifa. The tweet by Smash Racism DC also included video of the incident outside Carlson’s home.
“Every night you spread fear into our homes -— fear of the other, fear of us, and fear of them. Each night you tell us we are not safe. Tonight you’re reminded that we have a voice,” was the content of an Smash Racism DC. Another tweet threatened “Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either.”
In a statement last Thursday, Carlson said his wife, who was home alone, thought it was a home invasion and locked herself in a pantry until police arrived.
Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department has declared that the protesters’ actions were unlawful and a criminal investigation had been launched.
“Last night, a group of protestors broke the law by defacing private property at a Northwest, DC residence,” the statement said. “MPD takes these violations seriously, and we will work to hold those accountable for their unlawful actions. There is currently an open criminal investigation regarding this matter.”

Tucker Carlson has not tweeted since November 11, 2018 when he described an encounter he and his family had with a man at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Virginia to clarify what happened, countering what he described as politicization of the incident by the Left. The estate of the Farmington Country Club with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains goes back to 1735 before the American Revolution.
Last month one of my children was attacked by a stranger at dinner. For her sake, I was hoping to keep the incident private. It’s now being politicized by the Left. Here’s what happened: pic.twitter.com/rwNoFYxMFv

Daily Caller, a political news site co-founded by Tucker Carlson, reported that the Smash Racism DC organization easily circumvented the Twitter suspension by forming a new account @DCAgainstRacism; however, that account was also suspended after The Daily Caller pointed out the evasion of the Twitter ban.
