Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:12 AM Monday November 5, 2018 to a report of a light haze near the Attendance Office at Prospect High School, 801 West Kensington Road Mount Prospect, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find no evacuation of students and no strobes activated. The fire alarm was not activated. Officials at Prospect High School called the fire department to have the light haze investigated.
There were contractors working on the roof installing a furnace. The furnace was just started for the first time, and firefighters initially suspect that the source of the haze might have been normal oil burning off the new furnace.
Firefighters were investigating and inspecting the area.
Extra fire units were returned by 10:20 a.m.
Fire command reported no problem at Prospect High School, and identified the source of the haze as oil burning off a heat exchanger that was started for the first time.
