Storms with less convention and threat than initially forecast are in the area ahead of a warm front and a jet stream flowing southwest to northeast. The jet stream is located west and north of Chicagoland, which translates to warmer than normal weather.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows moderate showers and thunderstorms over much of northern Illinois, moving west to east. Most of Arlington Heights and nearby communities should be experiencing some lightning, thunder and heavy rain by 9:30-9:45 p.m. Any intensity in these storms should be finished before 2:00 a.m. Tuesday.
1-hour radar through 8:50 p.m. Storms will move across most of the northern Chicago suburbs & a large portion of the I-88 corridor through 10 p.m. Isolated ~45 mph gusts, heavy rain, & lightning continue to be near-term threats.
