Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:51 PM Monday October 15, 2018 to a report of a utility pole transformer that was sparking and arcing at Sigwalt Street and Dunton Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. A power outage connected to utility pole and power line trouble has canceled the 8:00 p.m.Arlington Heights Village Board Meeting. The Village of Arlington Heights announced via Facebook and Twitter about 5:50 p.m. Monday October 15, 2018 that the meeting was canceled due to a power outage.
Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report about 4:51 p.m. Monday that a telephone pole or transformer was on fire with a tree branch down across a power line on Sigwalt Street west of Dunton Avenue.
The fire or electrical arcing was apparently contained. A widespread outage in downtown Arlington Heights affecting over 1250 ComEd customers was reported by ComEd.
At 5:09 p.m. firefighters also received a report of lines down in a backyard on Elm Street between Vail Avenue and Highland Avenue.
Firefighters also received a report of alarms in the trouble position about 5:11 p.m.
