Tracy Smith catches up with Steve Perry, the former lead singer of Journey, who talks about life after leaving the supergroup, why he fell out of love with music, and the relationship that helped bring him back to recording a new solo album, “Traces.”
Perry is renowned for his tenor vocal range spanning from F#2 to A5.[37] He has been dubbed “The Voice”, a moniker originally coined by former chart peer Jon Bon Jovi.
On May 20, 2018, Perry made a surprise appearance on the final week of American Idol Season 16 when finalist Gabby Barrett performed Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” for her choice of song. Perry was then asked to give his thoughts on her performance, replying “She was amazing, that’s my critique!”
On October 5, 2018, Steve Perry released a 10 track studio album Traces worldwide via Fantasy Records (a division of Concord Records/UMG). A US Deluxe Edition will be available at Target, which will have 5 bonus tracks.
“No Erasin’” is off the new Steve Perry album “Traces” available everywhere October 5th, 2018.
