Deerfield police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:40 a.m. Monday October 1, 2018 to a report of a body found floating in a retention pond at 500 Lake Cook Road. Deerfield’s Battalion Chief was on the scene within a minute
Police and firefighter/paramedics found a 62-year-old man unresponsive in a retention pond. The man was dead at the scene and was transported to Highland Park Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:01 a.m.
A firefighter wearing a cold water exposure suit was able to enter the water to retrieve the body.
There were no initial signs of foul play, but Deerfield police and the Lake County coroner’s office are investigating.
