At 91°F, we just missed the record high of 92°F set last year (2017). O’Hare had a heat index high of 98°F today. Next, our first autumn-like cold front is headed our way tonight and tomorrow. Temperatures will drop all day Friday with gusty west winds and the warmest temperatures Friday at 78°F from midnight to 2:00 a.m., then 71°F by noon, 66°F by 5:00 p.m., and 56°F by midnight Friday/Saturday. Friday morning after sunrise will still actually be much warmer than normal at about 72°F, which is much warmer than the normal low of 53°F for the morning low on September 21. Saturday will hit the normal low of 53°F from about 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Cooler, but beautiful Sunny days are ahead Friday through Monday.

While seasonable fall temperatures are expected this weekend after what has been mainly summer temps throughout September, signs for late next week into early October are pointing toward the first relatively extended period of unseasonably chilly weather since April. #ilwx #inwx pic.twitter.com/Vc7KubTnfB
