Known for his trademark mustache, his comeback role in “Boogie Nights” earned him an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe; he starred on TV and the big screen.

Burt Reynolds, age 82, died Thursday morning September 6, 2018 at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida. The dashing star appeared in romantic comedies Starting Over (1979) with Jill Clayburgh and Candice Bergen; The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) with Dolly Parton; Best Friends (1982) with Goldie Hawn; and, The Man Who Loved Women (1983) with Julie Andrews.

Reynolds was top-grossing star every year from 1978 through 1982, and in 1978, he was starring in four movies playing in theaters at the same time — Smokey and the Bandit, Semi-Tough, The End, and Hooper.

Among his most memorable roles, including comedy and serious performances, were his work in Deliverance, White Lightning, Gunsmoke, Dan August, The Longest Yard, Boogie Nights, Evening Shade, and Smokey and the Bandit — one of his favorites.
