Streamwood police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:39 PM Saturday September 1, 2018 to a report of a house struck by lightning, followed by an odor of smoke at 105 Grey Fox Court Streamwood, Il. The first fire crew on arrival reported nothing showing. An investigation found a small fire in the attic from a lightning strike.
Extra companies from outside communities were returned, and Streamwood firefighters worked to extinguish the fire in the attic.
The fire was extinguished before 9:12 p.m.
The lead thunderstorm cell of a series of thunderstorm cells over land passed over Streamwood about 8:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. By 9:30 a line of thunderstorms grew and moved to extend from Kalamazoo, across northern Illinois to Quad Cities.
