It started off as a small idea to help raise money for some friends, it turned into 13 lemonade stands and the money going to a family that needs it now more than ever.
On July 21, 2018 a reckless driver rear-ended the Lendino family’s car and pushed it into the intersection where the car was hit by a large Toyota pickup truck.
Police said the reckless driver was 30-year-old Adam Grunin that rear-ended the Lendino’s car. Police say Grunin was going 107 miles-per-hour at the time of the crash, fleeing from another accident scene just before the second crash.
Sixteen-year-old Alyssa was killed in the crash. Her funeral has been postponed while her 12-year-old sister, Amanda, is still recovering in the hospital following five surgeries.
Friend of the family Julie Bohannon, her daughter and her husband came up with the idea of putting up lemonade stands across town on two days.
Other friends, neighbors, even businesses helped out, with proceeds going directly to the Lendino family resulting in a successful fundraiser.
“It’s so emotional,” Bohannon said. “It’s made me feel so good that we’re accomplishing something, a little something.”
