Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:04 PM Wednesday July 4, 2018 to a report of a person struck by lightning, Lake Shore Drive and Monroe Street Chicago, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a woman was struck by lightning near Maggie Daley Park.
A female in her 40s was transported by Chicago Fire Department paramedics to Level I Trauma Center Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was initially listed in serious condition. Her condition was stabilized.
Pedestrians were leaving the Navy Pier 4th of July fireworks show when a moderate thunderstorm passed over the city. There was flooding reported in the pedestrian tunnels nearby, and several people decided to cross Lake Shore Drive on the surface.
The incident was located near Monroe Harbor south of DuSable Harbor.
