One week from tonight, Wayne Messmer, National Anthem singer from the 2016 world series Champions Chicago Cubs and many other important events, will be opening the Rolling Meadows Police Department National Night Out event at the Rolling Meadows Park District, located at 3705 Pheasant Drive. Rolling Meadows Police Department invites all to see and hear this amazing rendition of the National Anthem.
Wayne Messmer sings “The Star-Spangled Banner” before many Cubs games and Chicago Wolves American Hockey League games.
For many years, Wayne Messmer also sang for the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears and Chicago Sting.
Messmer was shot in the neck in the block of 1500 West Fillmore Street on Chicago’s West Side, right after he arrived at his parked car. His shooting followed a walk of about a block and a half from a bar he was at where Blackhawks players would hang out after a game. he drove himself back to the bar — Hawkeye’s Bar and Grill, 1458 West Taylor Street. People helped the Mount Prospect resident, and called paramedics, who transported him to Cook County Hospital. He was on the road to recovery after 10 hours of surgery at Cook County Hospital.
