The Future of HBO and the Movie Experience: AMC vs. MoviePass | Fortt Knox

... #ad▼

On Fortt Knox host Jon Fortt interviews AMC CEO Adam Aron and NY Times Tech Editor Edmund Lee, who says the 60 million subscribers at NetFlix have changed the domain where HBO was once king. The interview (33+ minute interview) also covers the media moguls meeting in Sun Valley, Idaho with Julia Boorstin, and Movie Pass with Mitch Lowe.

AT&T executives acknowledged that the corporate culture of the telecommunications giant was different from that of the more freewheeling media and entertainment concerns of Time Warner. During the prelude to AT&T’s $85.4 billion acquisition of Time Warner in June 2018, AT&T pledged to take a hands-off approach to the Time Warner’s crown jewel, HBO, which has won endless Emmys while generating billions in profits. However, HBO needs to expand its reach.

AMC CEO Adam Aron discusses AMC Stubs A-List, which permits customers to see up to 3 movies every week in IMAX®, Dolby Cinema®, RealD® 3D, digital and more for just $19.95/month (+tax).

Movie Pass CEO Mitch Lowe talks about increasing the occasional moviegoer in it subscriber base.
