Rain showers and some lightning and thunder developed along a line from about Addison and Villa Park to Bloomingdale to Bartlett and Hanover Park, to Streamwood and west Schaumburg, to Elgin, and all the way to Marengo. Interestingly, the line of showers and thundershowers developed and then remained stationary along a line right over US 20.
The showers under tall cumulus clouds with sporadic lightning caused an early end to the Summer Celebration live music and Kiddie Rides and food festival event in Streamwood. Event officials, police and firefighters evacuated the event in an orderly manner starting about 6:45 p.m.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows thundershowers along US 20 in north DuPage, west Cook, north Kane, southwest McHenry, and southeast Winnebago counties.

Interesting, but the satellite view Sunday morning shows a most clear and sunny strip along US 20, and then the thundershower pop up in almost the same location Sunday evening.
A look at this morning's visible satellite imagery showing the puffy cumulus clouds developing. Some of the first development and brightest (deepest) of the clouds are noted along the lake breeze, where there is stronger wind convergence forcing upward motion. #SatelliteScience pic.twitter.com/79LM1KFdGc
