Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:55 PM Tuesday July 17, 2018 to a shooting at 1748 North Rose Avenue Palatine, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics initially received a report that a male shooting victim was in a car parked in the parking lot at Palatine High School, 1111 North Rohlwing Road. The shooting victim told a 911 operator that he was shot at another location, 1748 North Rose Avenue in Palatine. He told the 911 operator that he was on his way to the hospital. He said he was stopped and sitting inside an older model Buick Century.
However, police and firefighter/paramedics met the man at the intersection of Rohlwing Road and Wilson Street. The car was stopped northbound on Rohlwing Road.
The man was transported to an undisclosed hospital. The Buick Century had one bullet hole in the driver’s side door.
The offender is described as a male/black shooter. No further description was initially available. Multiple shots were fired at about 12:50 p.m. Apparently at least one bullet hit the victim.
The victim is believed to have been struck at the apartment parking lot at 1748 North Rose Avenue. Police had multiple markers on the ground in are of at least 110 feet by 25 feet in the southwest corner of the apartment parking lot. The crime scene is located just northwest of Dundee Road and Rand Road.
