One more humid, hot day with a chance of storms, especially between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Storms are more likely today in Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs, compared to the past two days where storms hit other Chicagoland communities. A Heat Index high of 101°F is forecast for about noon Thursday, July 5, 2018. Currently there are no heat alerts for Arlington Heights, but there is a Heat Advisory in areas south of Interstate 80.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows scattered small scattered thunderstorm cells over north central Illinois and southwest Wisconsin with slow movement to the east at 4:55 a.m. The storms are associated with residual convective outflows from last nights storms, according to the National Weather Service.
Today is the last day of the current oppressive humidity & heat. Highest heat south of I-80, where Heat Advisory remains in effect today. Everywhere will be humid though, so ensure you practice heat safety with regular breaks if outside work or activities. https://t.co/xO5bgWD9yc pic.twitter.com/lAxRwWsFgw
