The forecast for the northwest suburbs was about 0.9″ to 1.0″ of rain by midnight, with more rain locally in some thunderstorms, but it now appears Arlington Heights might not even get a half inch of rain by midnight. Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows a line of thunderstorms the border counties along the Illinois-Wisconsin State Line, moving southeast. The front edge of the thunderstorms was at the Lake-Cook border at 6:25 p.m. Also, a light outer flow boundary was just starting to cross the Lake-Cook boundary at 5:20 p.m. The southbound outer flow boundary sped ahead and was more than halfway through the top half of DuPage County and Cook County at 6:25 p.m. The line of thunderstorms slowed down significantly and appears to hit a dry area in north and northwest Cook County. On radar the image looks like a dry hole over north and northeast Cook County. There is a little rain and a only a single thunderstorm cell north of Madison, Wisconsin, but otherwise there is nothing major behind the first diminished line of storms.
