EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING ENDING SOON, THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT
Humidity has been high today with Dew Points staying in the low 70s through about 3:00 p.m. The high temperature at O’Hare at 2:51 p.m. and 4:51 p.m. was 94°F. the Heat Index was 100°F at 2:51 p.m. at O’Hare.

The air temperature is expected to drop sharply between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., falling to 73°F by 8:00 p.m. The greatest chance for thunderstorms are between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Arlington Heights and the nearby northwest suburbs may get about 0.9″ to 1.0″ of rain by midnight, and maybe much higher locally in some thunderstorms, which should arrive in Arlington Heights by 5:35 p.m..
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows a line of thunderstorms from Muskegon, Michigan; across Lake Michigan and across the entire length of the Illinois-Wisconsin State Line, moving southeast. The front edge of the thunderstorms was almost half way across Lake County and McHenry County at 5:10 p.m. Also, a light outer flow boundary was just starting to cross the Lake-Cook boundary at 5:20 p.m.
