Showers and thunderstorms could bring about 1.1 inch of rain starting tonight at about midnight and until midnight Thursday/Friday. Total rainfall continuing until about noon Friday could be about 1.8 inch in Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs. Heavier rain is forecast south of Interstate 80. The greater flooding potential is south of the northwest suburbs — south of the northwest Cook County-DuPage County border. The nearest severe thunderstorms are forecast in northwest Wisconsin and Minnesota as much of the United States has rain and storms in the forecast.
Our most significant recent rain was 0.45″ on Monday night, June 18, 2018 from about 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and then about midnight Monday/Tuesday.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows a large solid area of thunderstorms from north of Dubuque, Iowa to St. Louis moving east-northeast. The leading edge was in Peoria at 7:35 p.m. and the leading edge targeting the northwest suburbs could reach Arlington Heights between 11:00 p.m. and midnight Wednesday/Thursday.
