The next best chance for showers and thunderstorms is after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. There is a slightly higher severe weather potential south of I-88. The Storm Prediction Center Day 1 Convective Outlook has the “Marginal” risk are for storms much further south of I-80 in the east half of Illinois. However, Arlington Heights and the nearby northwest suburbs could get another 0.9 inch of rain. The most significant recent rain in Arlington Heights was 3.2″ from Thursday June 21, 2018 at 1:10 a.m. until Friday June 22, 2018 at 10:20 a.m.
Another Low Pressure system is heading toward Chicagoland. Monday night, the 1008 mb surface low is near Nebraska and Kansas; and is associated with a slow-moving warm front, which is expected to reach southern Chicagoland by Tuesday afternoon. Mostly cloudy conditions Tuesday will likely hold back any high 80s from occurring in the northwest suburbs. There is uncertainty regarding early development of thunderstorms north of I-80 on Tuesday, and there is uncertainty regarding tomorrow’s high about 80°F. Heat and humidity with highs in the 90s are expected to arrive Friday and Saturday.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) in northeast Illinois is clear.
