EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH SATURDAY TO MONDAY
Rainfall amount with a convective complex of showers and thunderstorms that moved south-southeast from Wiscsonin produced 1.25″ of rain in central Arlington Heights from about 2:00 a.m. until 4:15 a.m. The rainwater and cloud cover might “cool” weather conditions early this morning, but a Heat Index high near 100°F is still in the forecast for Saturday, June 16, 2018. Sunday is forecast to be the hottest day of a heat wave that will bring heat indices from 99°F to 101°F from Saturday through Monday.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows that a convective complex of showers and thunderstorms have moved east and are diminishing over Lake Michigan at 4:45 a.m.
Storms across WI will shift south into overnight. A very gradual fade in intensity is expected, however, gusty winds are likely even before they arrive into northeast IL. This includes along the Lake MI lakefront. Locally heavy rain/flooding is a possibility too. #ILwx #INwx pic.twitter.com/rwTPoAMfMv

Could you feel that heat when you opened your car this afternoon? It will be even more intense this #FathersDay weekend. Temperatures in a closed car with no cooling can become dangerous fast. #LookBeforeYouLock we say!

…EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT TODAY THROUGH
MONDAY EVENING…
* TEMPERATURES…Afternoon highs will be in the mid to possibly
upper 90s Saturday through Monday. Nighttime lows in the city
will likely only be around 80 Saturday night and Sunday night.
* HEAT INDICES…Peak afternoon heat indices of 98 to 105 are
forecast Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Minimal relief from the
heat is expected at night with heat indices likely to remain in
the 90s through the evening and possibly into portions of the

* IMPACTS…The extended duration of heat, combined with nearly
full sunshine, and oppressive warmth at night will lead to
potentially hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly
and those with pre-existing health conditions. Residents of
the city of Chicago can call 3…1…1…to request well being
checks for elderly friends or family members, or for
information on finding the nearest cooling center.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot
temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and
high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in
which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids…stay
in an air-conditioned room…stay out of the sun…and check up
on relatives and neighbors.
