After responding to an EMS call and returning in service, firefighters with Charlotte Fire Station 18 in North Carolina helped out with a family in need. Engine 18’s crew “stumbled across a family desperately trying to fill up a kiddy pool by filling pots from the sink for a little boys birthday on this sweltering day” read a fire station post on Facebook. The family was using using the pool to beat the heat and to celebrate a young boy’s birthday.
The temperature at Charlotte Douglas International Airport at 3:52 p.m. Sunday June 24, 2018 was 96°F with a Heat Index of 103°F.
