Water vapor imagery indicates an upper low, which has been sucking up moisture from the southeast for the past 18 hours or more, is positioned over St. Louis, Missouri. Significant precipitation is expected to end by about 1:00 p.m. Friday. Sprinkles and very light rain my continue Friday and end about 3:00 a.m. in Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs. Rain that began about 1:10 a.m. Thursday in Arlington Heights dropped about 1.5 inch of rain by 1:10 p.m. By 10:20 am. Friday additional rain brought the system’s total rainfall in Arlington Heights to 3.2 inches. The heavy rain period began about 5:00 am. and lasted until about 9:00 a.m.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows precipitation moving southeast to northwest and diminishing at 11:45 a.m. Rain is leaving the northwest suburbs, and no existing rain is headed for the area. Conditions do not appear to be likely to bring development of new precipitation in the northwest suburbs for the next couple of hours.
Moderate rain will continue north of I-80 through the a.m. & with the saturated ground conditions will lead to localized flooding, especially in urban locations, especially along the I-80 and I-290 corridors.
