Waukegan police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:18 a.m. Sunday June 24, 2018 to a report of a shooting at Stretch’s Sport’s Bar and Grill, 200 North Green Bay Road. Waukegan police discovered that a 37 year-old man had been shot and killed, and to other people were injured in the bar’s parking lot.
Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper identified the victim as Parnell King, and reported that a preliminary autopsy showed that Parnell died “due to injuries sustained from a gunshot.” Shooting incidents also involve toxicology, but the results are pending.
One of the injured victims was a Waukegan woman in her 20s who had been shot. She was transported by Waukegan Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
The other injured victim was a Waukegan man in 30s who arrived at a local emergency room via personal vehicle. He also suffered a gunshot wound. He was also treated and released.
Information gathered by detectives the shooting resulted during a verbal argument in the bar’s parking lot, where the shooting occurred. Therefore, police believe the shooting was an isolated incident.
