Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded about 7:00 AM PT Friday May 11, 2018 to the Highland High School campus, 39055 25th Street West, Palmdale to reports of a possible shooting.
As of 7:30 AM PT one person, who drove to the hospital on their own, was reported injured, according to Los County Sheriff’s Department. The exact mode of injury was unknown initially.
Sheriff’s deputies and the ATF were on the scene. The male suspect was apprehended near Vons grocery store, 3027 Rancho Vista Blvd in Palmdale.
There were also reports of shots heard at Manzanita Elementary School, but the school was cleared after deputies searched the Manzanita campus located near Highland High School.
Some initial breaking news reports incorrectly reported the incident as an Active Shooter incident, as indicated in the tweets below. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reports the incident was not an Active Shooter incident.
