Naperville has canceled their morning Memorial Day Parade, but is continuing with the ceremony in Central park at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial Day: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. West wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 10 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 69. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.
The high of 97°F is not expected until about 3-4 p.m. The air temperature forecast for Naperville is climbing from 80°F at 8:00 a.m. to 91°F by 11:00 a.m. The Naperville forecast is about 3°F warmer than the Arlington Heights forecast. The 90°F mark is not expected to be crossed until about 1:00 p.m. and the high for the day is forecast at 94°F.
AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TUESDAY NIGHT…
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has determined that an
air pollution action day will be declared for the greater Chicago
Metropolitan Area and is in effect until midnight CDT Tuesday night.
An air pollution action day is declared when weather conditions are
such that widespread ozone and or particulate levels are expected to
be at or above the unhealthy for sensitive groups category of the
air quality index.
Active children and adults especially people with pulmonary or
respiratory disease such as asthma should limit prolonged outdoor
activity.
Area residents are urged to reduce pollution levels. Air quality
forecasts and tips on how you can reduce your emissions can be found
at www.airnow.gov.
