High 81, About 1″ Rain, Alberto Clouds Clearing After 8:30 PM in Arlington Heights, Chicago Weather Forecast Northwest

The question of the day is whether the remnants of Subtropical Storm Alberto will bring a lot of rain to Chicagoland. At 4:49 a.m. the low pressure center of Subtropical Storm Alberto was located in the Wabash Valley in far southeast Illinois near the borders with Kentucky and Indiana. Alberto is expected move up the Illinois-Indiana state line while drifting slightly east.

Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows precipitation moving north with the heavier precipitation west near Rockford and the Interstate 39 corridor, as was forecast. At 9:45 a.m. the northernmost precipitation near the center of Subtropical Storm Alberto is spinning counterclockwise and approaching Danville, Illinois about 40 miles south of Danville. The precipitation with the storm center will likely affect the northwest suburbs by 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Smaller sprinkles might pop up ahead of the storm.

Today: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then periods of showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 81. East southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tonight: Periods of showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a slight chance of showers. Low around 69. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Thursday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. North northeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
