Arlington Heights Police Officer Piotr Gacek awarded Arlington Heights Crime Stoppers’ Officer of the Year on May 17, 2018. Officer Gacek joined the Arlington Heights Police Department in 2008.
During assignment to the afternoon shift with the Arlington Heights Police Department, Gacek served citizens in Arlington Heights as a friendly and socially confident police officer, as a Field Training Officer, a Forensic Technician, and a member of the Department’s Crisis Intervention Team. In 2012, Gacek was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Bureau where his duties included serving as a part-time School Resource Officer at The Academy at Forest View, and investigation of financial crimes. Gacek is a member of the International Financial Crimes Investigators’ Association.
Officer Gacek is also a state certified Juvenile Officer and is currently assigned to the Juvenile Investigations Division where he handles cases with child victims. He is also one of two investigators responsible for registering sex offenders and conducting semi-annual sex offender compliance checks. Officer Gacek is also a certified Computer Voice Stress Analyzer and a certified Cell Phone Forensic Examiner.
Gacek’s “beyond the call of duty” work includes working to support charity for The Foundation Fighting Blindness by organizing a charity golf outing in 2012. Gacek is an exceptional police officer with an engaging, good-natured personality.
Gacek joins fellow officers Petar Milutinovic (2017), Sean Edmondson (2017), Petar Milutinovic (2016), Sean Edmondson (2015), Timothy Jasper (2014) for the most recent five years of the Arlington Heights Crime Stoppers’ Officer of the Year Award.
Officer Robert Kostka received the 2017 Arlington Heights Police Department Civilian Employee of the Year Award.
