Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:05 PM Saturday April 28, 2018 to a report of a an activated fire alarm and smoke at Emerson at Village Centre, 100 South Emerson Street Mount Prospect, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of an activated fire alarm, smoke and water running through ceilings and to the basement in the building.
Firefighters were investigating smoke and running water in the building, and started to returned some fire units by 10:20 p.m.
Information about the source of the problem was not initially available, but a small fire in a garbage can that was extinguished by the sprinkler system was discovered by 10:25 p.m.
Many residents evacuated the building before firefighters arrived.
