Naperville police received a report about 8:27 AM Thursday April 5, 2018 of a residential burglary in the block of 400 South Julian Street Naperville, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized a single family residence just south of the Naperville Historic District, just southeast of the North Central College campus and east of downtown Naperville.
On Thursday, April 5, 2018, at approximately 8:26 a.m., Naperville Police were dispatched to the block of 400 South Julian Street to a report that a homeowner, who had returned home, found his back door kicked in at his house. Responding police officers determined that the offender had fled the scene prior to police arrival and began searching the area and interviewing neighbors. A description of a suspicious subject seen in the area prior to the burglary was developed and broadcast to responding officers. An officer in the area of North Avenue and Huffman Street, just west of the Naperville Tennis Club, located a subject matching the description. To further investigate, the police officer approached the male suspect, who was located about 1.5 mile north of the crime scene. Evidence was developed during this interaction linking the subject to the incident. The suspect was subsequently arrested.
According to Naperville police, the subject was identified as Jeffrey B. Roman, age 29, with a last known address in Addison. Jeffrey B. Roman was charged with one count of Residential Burglary — a Class 2 Felony — and transported to the DuPage County Jail.
The crime is reported to have occurred just before 8:26 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018.
