Chicago police responded about 12:50 a.m. Monday April 23, 2018 to the block of 7600 South Calumet Avenue to a report that an off-duty Dolton police officer was shot during an attempted robbery.
Early investigation discovered that two men tried to rob the off-duty police officer, and gunfire was exchanged.
Darryl Hope, 55, was shot in his abdomen, arm and leg, and was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Masonic Medical Center, where the 15-year veteran was listed in serious condition.
No suspects in custody as of sunrise Monday, April 23, 2018.
