A Lake County Sheriff’s Sergeant on patrol on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at approximately 11:00 PM, was in the area of Route 120 and Mill Road in Warren Township conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding.
The driver, Sergio J. Berrios, age 37, of the block of 4200 Bertrand Lane in Beach Park admitted there were drugs inside the vehicle. The sergeant found Berrios to be in possession of drugs and a firearm. The sergeant identified Berrios as a previously convicted felon, who did not have a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry License.
Berrios was arrested and charged with …
Unlawful Use/Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (class 3 felony),
Unlawful Possession of Cannabis and Drug Paraphernalia (Ordinance Violations),
and the traffic offense.
Following a bond hearing, Berrios was released after posting 10% of his $50,000.00 bail. His next scheduled court date is Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 1:30 PM in courtroom C-120.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
