Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:52 PM Sunday April 1, 2018 to a report of a extrication crash at 1000 East Deerfield Parkway Buffalo Grove, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a crash with entrapment involving an SUV that crashed into a treet. The crash was discovered by Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD firefighter/paramedics en route to a separate medical call.
Battalion 4 on arrival reports reported Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighter/paramedics were already working on extrication by 12:55 p.m.
Battalion 4 reported heavy entrapment while removing a female patient by 1:00 p.m. Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Battalion Chief 51 was Safety Officer on the scene for extrication.
Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51 was called to the scene by 1:15 p.m. for extra assistance with extrication. Battalion Chief 4 reports that firefighters were continuing to work with two tools at 1:26 p.m.
Long Grove Squad 55 was dispatched to the scene for additional assistance with extrication by 1:30 p.m.
A portable heater was used to keep the patient warm by 1:55 p.m. — air temperature was 33F-34°F and wind chill was 25-28°F during the time of extrication operation. Extrication was complete at 1:59 p.m., and the patient was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center.
