Elevated roadways, bridges and all concrete pedestrian sidewalks and porches are especially slippery following a mid-April minor storm with light snow and freezing drizzle that ended by 3:00 a.m. overnight. Firefighter/paramedics will likely be busy this morning with an extra number of crashes and pedestrian slips and falls.
Northbrook firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:35 a.m. to Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway. Northbrook’s Battalion Chief on arrival reported two crashes — a crash in the westbound lanes involving two vehicles, and a car in the eastbound lanes involving two vehicles.
Northbrook firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:49 a.m. Thursday to a crash on westbound Dundee Road just west of the Tri-State Tollway. Northbrook police warned firefighter/paramedics of icy conditions near the crash scene.
Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:56 a.m. Thursday to a serious head-on crash on Deerfield Road east of Milwaukee Avenue. Firefighters on scene reported no extrication needed, but requested a second and third ambulance to the scene for multiple accidents nearby.
