Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:07 PM Sunday March 25, 2018 to a report of a three killed and one injured at intersection cras, Golf Road and Rand Road Des Plaines, Il . Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a serious crash with entrapment with a car possibly on fire.

Police were first on scene and reported three people unconscious in one of two vehicles involved in a crash. Police reported one person was possibly dead at the scene. Police did not confirm the report of the fire.

Engine 61’s crew on arrival reported by 6:10 p.m. that Station 61 equipment was on scene with a two-vehicle crash with heavy damage.

Engine 63 and Mount Prospect Ambulance 13 crews were assigned to the crash by 6:11 p.m.

Rand Road command was established by 6:12 p.m., and the incident was described as a medium-scale incident by 6:17 p.m. Chief 6101 covered the rest of Des Plaines during the active incident.

Rand Road command reported extrication complete by 6:24 p.m. One male patient was removed to a Des Plaines ambulance (A63).

Mount Prospect Ambulance 13’s crew transported one patient to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Des Plaines Ambulance 63’s crew transported one patient with life-threatening injuries to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Initial investigation indicates that a 16-year-old male driver was driving with his family when he turned left in front of an oncoming car. The family’s gray sedan was hit on the passenger side with severe damage resulting.

Investigators said the teen’s 57-year-old father, 53-year-old mother and 20-year-old sister were killed in the crash. Police did not initially release the identities of the victims.

The 16 year-old son was extricated in about 14 minutes from the time of arrival of Des Plaines firefighter/paramedics, and was transported by Des Plaines firefighter/paramedics to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

The driver of the other sedan, which showed severe front-end damage, was also transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Des Plaines police reported that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
