North Chicago police responded about 12:51 a.m. Monday March 5, 2018 in the area of Green Bay Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. A short time later while police were investigating the shots fired call, Waukegan police received a report of a gunshot victim at South Lewis Avenue and Catalpa Street — about three miles from the shots fired call location.
The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police investigators discovered that the victim was shot in North Chicago in the area of the initial shots fired call.
North Chicago police and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force are investigating.
Police only released information that the gunshot victim was a 29-year-old man from North Chicago.
North Chicago called the Lake County Major Crime Task Force for assistance with the investigation.
North Chicago Police urge anyone with information about the shooting to call Lake County Crime Stoppers at 847-662-2222.
