LAKE COUNTY ILLINOIS, NORTHERN MCHENRY COUNTY, AND SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN GETTING WORST SNOW TOTALING 3 – 5″
Snow START TIME for Saturday February 3, 2018 is forecast later than it was yesterday. With gusty winds in northern Illinois as high as 29 MPH (1PM-3PM) snow now should begin by late afternoon near the IL/WI border, but a period of light snow or flurries won’t begin in the Arlington Heights area until about 6 PM. The snow will pick up intensity about 11 PM in Arlington Heights. Forecasters are expecting only 0.5″ in Arlington Heights by midnight Saturday/Sunday, and by the time this snow system is finished with Arlington Heights (Sunday at 5 PM) there will be about 2.7 inches on the ground.
Arlington Heights Public Works trucks have sprayed the “BEET JUICE” … and it’s been down on the streets at least 24 hours.
If you’re a DIY snow shoveler, you might want to keep up with this snow by shoveling very early Sunday morning (before 5AM) at the system halfway point. Temperatures will be above freezing just before midnight, but fallen snow will be in a very hard freeze by 9AM (20°F and dropping). When the snow stops in Arlington Heights about 5 PM, the air temperature will be 14°F and wind chill will drop to about 0°F.
