A missing 11-year-old Orlando girl, reported as an endangered runaway, was found with a 24-year-old man in Macon, Georgia.
An 11-year-old Orlando girl, reported as a missing endangered runaway Sunday morning February 18, 2018, was found the same day in a Georgia hotel with a Hoffman Estates man.
The 11 year-old Orlando girl, reported as an endangered runaway by the Orange County (Florida) sheriff’s office about 9 a.m. ET Sunday, was tracked by her cell phone heading north and geolocated at a stationary location by 2:00 p.m. in Bibb County, Georgia.
Orange County Sheriff’s office tracked the girl’s phone as she traveled north, and when the phone’s geolocation was stationary in western Bibb County, about 70 miles southeast of Atlanta, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Bibb County sheriff’s office for assistance.
At 4 p.m. Sunday, Bibb County sheriff’s deputies met with an FBI agent who assisted in tracking the phone to a Holiday Inn Express hotel in Macon in Bibb County. They located the girl with a Hoffman Estates, Illinois man inside a hotel room. The man was identified as John Peter Byrns, 24, 5’6″ 225 LBS, a resident of Hoffman Estates in the block of 4300 North Cottonwood Trail.
FBI agents and sheriff’s deputies safely recovered the girl, who had been described as 5’5″ 140 LBS with blue eyes, short blue and brown hair, and carrying a blue and white backpack.
The FBI sheltered and cared for the girl until she was reunited with her family.
Monday afternoon, John Peter Byrns remained in Bibbs County Jail inmate, held for the FBI and awaiting charges, in the Bibb County jail.
