Zion police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:41 p.m. Friday February 16, 2018 to a report of a shooting at 2816 North Edina Boulevard.

Police discovered three people shot in a targeted home invasion. Two women and a man who were shot, ranged in age from 24 to 43 years old, according to Zion Police Department.

One of the women, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, was transferred by ambulance to Waukegan National Airport, and airlifted to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she died Friday night.

Zion police did not initially release the identity of the woman who was killed.

Two other gunshot victims were transported by ambulance to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center.

Police did not initially release a description of a suspect or suspects connected to the shootings.

Schools in the area were not placed in lockdown because police say they understood that the victims of the shootings were targeted at the crime scene on Edina Boulevard north of 29th Street.

The Lake County Major Crime Task Force was requested to assist Zion Police Department with the crime scene shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Chief Steve Dumyahn urged anyone with information about the shooting to call the Zion Police Department at 847-872-8000.
