Witnesses report that police responded to Central DuPage Hospital to a report of an armed intruder about 3:00 to 3:15 p.m. Saturday January 20, 2018.
Employees at the hospital were alerted by text messages to hide and seek shelter, according to witnesses. Witnesses have also reported there is an ALL CLEAR, but this was not confirmed by officials as of 3:40 p.m.
Witnesses also reported heavy police activity with at least one helicopter overhead, and a bypass at the hospital Emergency Room.
The official website for Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital refers to the general Facebook and Twitter accounts for Northwestern Medicine and there is no mention of the incident at Central DuPage at either social media account.
The Village of Winfield Police Department does not appear to have any social media accounts, and there is no mention of today’s incident on the police department’s official website as of 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
