Police responded about 10:00 p.m. Saturday January 6, 2018 to report of a sexaual assault at Lamplighter Inn Tavern and Grille, 60 North Bothwell Street in Palatine.
Police said the attack stopped after a patron alerted Lamplighter security that a man was in the women’s restroom. Police said security personnel at Lamplighter Inn Tavern and Grille helped officers by locating Rubio before he left the bar.
Eric Rubio, 23, of the 200 block of Renee Terrace, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and attempted unlawful delivery of a controlled substance stemming from the allegations that he offered the victim cocaine before he attacked her.
Police determined that Rubio is known by his accuser, and followed her into to the restroom area of the bar and offered her cocaine. Police were told that she refused, and he entered the women’s bathroom and sexually assaulted her in a stall.
At a hearing Monday at the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows, bond for Rubio was set at $50,000 on the felony charges.
Rubio’s next scheduled court date is set for February 2, 2018. If he is released on bail, Rubio will be placed on electronic monitoring. He remained in Cook County jail Tuesday night.
