LaSalle County Sheriff’s deputies and Utica firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:29 AM Tuesday January 2, 2018 to a report of a fire at the “Grand Bear Lodge,” 2643 Il Rt 178 Grand Bear, North Utica, Il . LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office and firefighter/paramedics received a report that flames and smoke were visible from the banquet and water park area of the Grand Bear Resort.
Guests at the resort were evacuated from their rooms, and many sheltered for warmth in their vehicles. There were no initial reports of injuries.
A MABAS Division 25 Box Alarm (3rd Level) on Box #102 and #602 for a structure fire at “Grand Bear Lodge” was activated at 5:52 a.m. The fire was reported to be in the Water Park area.
